In future, we think traditional analysts who rely on financial data analysis may be replaced gradually by robots. We believe this will push financial analysts to focus on more value-added services, such as providing long-term insight about companies and industries based on their sector knowledge, or on-the-ground research about products and management which cannot be interpreted solely from financial data, or even translating fundamental development changes into actionable investment ideas. Considering the trend towards unbundling research from trading payments in the asset management industry and the rise of professional social networks, we may see the rise of independent research firms specializing in certain countries or sectors.
